Located amongst Sydney's vibrant Darling Harbour, Home Bar is one of Sydney's largest nightclubs. Spreading over an impressive five levels, Home Bar proves to be eccentric, entertaining, and the place to be. Amazingly, you can stay here both day and night as there is a 'Day Club' which will actually serve you a full breakfast for $20 at 8am for those crazed people striving for a weekend bender.

Entry prices are $25 each so make sure you get on those guestlists for cheaper entry (always good when your bestfriend is dating one of the DJ's!!!). Bar service here has gone above and beyond! All bar crew are registered entertainers; wowing crowds with strange talents of twirling glasses and the like. However, you definatly pay for the bar service here. Drinks are quite expensive, with vodka Redbulls coming in at a whopping $15!

Home Bar is definately for everyone. Each level has a different style of music, and there is both an outside and inside on each level. And for those dancers amongst us, Home Bar has one of the biggest dance floors in Sydney.

But all in all, definately worth going as an amazing night out is guaranteed!

The Grand National

The Grand National is a quiet pub only a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street, Paddington.


The pub has a relaxed aura as most are locals and the size of the crowd can vary depending on what sporting event is showing but you can always be guaranteed a packed house when the Waratahs or Wallabies are playing so I suggest you get in early otherwise its standing room only.

The Grand National has a diverse and satisfying menu but I always find it hard to go past the wagyu beef burger, which is reasonably priced at $18. The quality of food is always top notch and the steaks are pretty hard to go past, too. The pub keeps the all the regular ambers on tap (but really is there anything other than Coopers?) and the wine list is selective but I'm positive everyone can find a drop to suit their palette and budget.

On this occasion I visited the Grand National on a Saturday afternoon and it was somewhat busy (probably due to the Wallabies game) but I personally enjoy the Sunday session at the pub.. (There’s just something tempting about that forbidden Sunday bender)

Overall, it's hard to go past the Grand National (literally) as it's down the road from my house!

Martin Place Bar

Nice place to begin a Friday night after work though it's not for those who hate people in suits as that is all you will be able to see as you walk in.


The bar is nice and trendy, in a great spot of town to go out anywhere after whether it be to the Cross of King Street Wharf.....or you could easily walk out and jump on a train as there is an entrance attached to to the bar. 


A nice addition for the night was a free BBQ, or at least I think it was free :|....Personally its not a place I would stay at all night unless I was with people that I enjoyed talking to for that long and that being said, it is a nice place to talk to people after the bulk of the crowd has left. 


All in all I'd rate Martin Place Bar 3.5/5 on a normal night......and 4/5 whenever they have the BBQ going.

Enjoyable Friday night after work. Nicely warmed up for a good time after being at James Squires (a few bars down the wharf). Enjoyable atmosphere. Decent 'good looking - ugly' ratio of people.
Drinks were 'reasonable' often best to drink in bulk i.e order a bottle of sparkling (also a good trick for impressing people).
....Night sadly came to and end (well our night at Cargo at least) when part of my entourage knocked over a giant pot plant and was 'escorted out the back doors. We carried on afterwoods to Pub Metro for a relaxing beer on the rooftop.

Overall I'd rate Cargo 5/5 - except for the pricey drinks, but the good looking crowd and good music makes up for it.

Le Panic

Good music, good service, good times! In a nutshell really. Le Panic is nestled away from the main hub-bub of 'The Cross' and is located next to Candys and World Bar.

I lost my Le Panic virginity on Friday August 20th, as it was a good friends' t-shirt brand launch night. Jumping at the chance for free entry and free drinks we headed into the city around 9.30ish. A blurry bus ride later, and a ice-cold walk to The Cross from Wynyard landed us in Le Panic around about 11pm. Half a dozen free vodka and cranberry's later, the party really started. The music was good and everybody seemed keen to shred up the dance floor!

Psychedelic wallpaper prints, leather sofas, chaised lounges and candy-looking bar stools created a sleek, suave club experience for the intoxicated. Standard drink prices and fast bar service topped off the night perfectly. The toilets (an important factor to a girls' night out) were impeccable, and were definately one of the 'Top 5 Loos' in the city. Le Panic offered something for everybody; an undercover outside areas, with (wait for it) HEATERS!!!!, a main bar area and dance floor for the more outrageous party animals, and a Shh bar. Yes, a Shh bar. Located away from the main attraction, the Shh bar was another room with a bar and a little alcove of comfy lounges and coffee tables for the tiny percentage of the population, wishing to remember the events of the night the next morning.

Like most clubs in the city you do have to pay an entrance fee, which ranges from $15-20, depending on your gender (yes it does seem a bit biased!!!!!!) However, get on those guestlists and entry prices will be halved!! Like they say... It's not what you know, it's who you know.
